A BOTOX treatment is used in aesthetic medicine to treat so-called expression lines. These are caused by the underlying muscles. HOW BOTOX WORKS IN WRINKLE TREATMENT
BOTOX is an active ingredient that occurs naturally. It inhibits the transmission of impulses to the muscles. In low doses, BOTOX can be used in aesthetic medicine to reduce the activity of the facial muscles. Your natural facial features are preserved—you simply look more refreshed. Patients do not need to worry about a mask-like facial expression.
PROCEDURE OF A BTX TREATMENT
Before the actual treatment begins, our physicians will conduct a consultation. Your wishes and concerns are the focus. Dr. (IR) M. Haghdadeh will also check whether facial muscles are the cause of the wrinkles. Often, a general sagging of the tissue is also the reason for wrinkles and lines. In these cases, fillers such as hyaluronic acid provide the best possible results.
The entire treatment takes about 20 minutes. To make the BOTOX wrinkle treatment as comfortable as possible for you, our physicians apply a light numbing cream. WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH BTX?
A BOTOX treatment is suitable for expression lines. It can also be combined with fillers such as hyaluronic acid to target deep wrinkles, such as frown lines, and restore the skin’s elasticity. For lip augmentation, we use hyaluronic acid, as BOTOX is not suitable here.

RESULTS & DURATION OF A BTX TREATMENT
The effect of Botox begins within 2 hours. However, for the success of the wrinkle treatment, the smoothing of the skin over the muscle is decisive. This process can take up to two weeks—only then will an initial result of the aesthetic treatment become visible. After five to six weeks, the effect reaches its peak and then gradually wears off again, as the body breaks down Botox over time.
After about six months, the treatment can be repeated at our practice in Hamburg. Experience shows that the effect of BTX tends to last slightly longer with each treatment.
BEHAVIOUR AFTER A BTX TREATMENT
Most patients can return to their daily routine immediately after a Botox wrinkle treatment. In rare cases, slight redness and swelling may occur, but these are not a cause for concern. Gentle cooling usually helps the swelling subside quickly.
Please ensure that you do not lie down for four hours after the treatment and avoid strong facial expressions. This helps ensure that the Botox can take effect in the correct area. Also avoid the sauna, solarium, and sport for one week—direct sunlight can also negatively affect the success of the treatment.
